Usera was an ace arranger and sax session man, born in Puerto Rico but active in New York in the late 1920s, from which he toured Europe in the orchestra of Noble Sissle on frequent visits. Back in New York, his early '40s arrangements for Pedro Flores & Pedro Marcano highlight their sessions. He went on to arrange and record with Xavier Cugat (hear HQCD 154).
